What should we pay attention to when storing bicycles
Hydraulic mechanisms (brakes, shock absorbers...) generally hydraulic brakes and shock absorbers are easy to air, which will greatly reduce the effect of bicycles. Especially if bicycles are placed upside down for a long time, it will be easier to air these devices. Although there are sealing rings, inverted bicycles are easier to air, so bicycles placed normally should be placed horizontally as far as possible, Keep it in its normal standing position.
If the brake disc hits something, the disc is easy to bend. Due to the small gap between the brake disc and the brake disc, a small bending may make the disc make a disgusting friction sound.
The transmission and other sensitive parts, the derailleur, are very fragile parts. Try not to exert any pressure on them when placing them. When the right side is parked against the wall, do not let the derailleur come into direct contact with the wall.
Tires bicycle tires should be inflated. If the tires of a bicycle are deflated when placed, they will deform over time. However, avoid inflating the tires too much. Especially if the bicycle is stored for a long time (weeks or months). Excessive pressure will unnecessarily stick the tire and fiber together. If the bicycle is placed for a long time, it is recommended to place the tire pressure about 20% lower than the normal tire pressure, and ensure that it is filled regularly every month.
Direct sunlight and heat, as well as moisture, can damage all plastic and rubber parts on the bicycle. It's also not very good for carbon fiber parts.
If the bicycle is stored near the radiator or heating device, the rubber and plastic parts will age faster.
High humidity is detrimental to steel and carbon components. Some basement garages can be very wet.
Method for storing bicycle indoors
There are two basic ways to store bicycles: on the ground and high.
There is a disadvantage of storing bicycles on the ground - bicycles take up some useful space. Of course, it's a little portable. You can ride your car out at any time.
In principle, bicycles stored on the ground should lean against some stable objects or walls as much as possible, and the principle channel position should be as much as possible to avoid tripping or hitting bicycles as much as possible.
If the bike is stored on a concrete floor (usually in a garage or basement), put some cardboard or old carpet under the wheels. Exposed concrete absorbs moisture from tire rubber, making them decay and crack faster. This is especially important for long-term storage.
